Brooke Christa Shields  (born May 31, 1965) [2]  is an American actress, model and former  child star . Initially a  child model , she gained critical acclaim at age 12 for her leading role in  Louis Malle 's controversial film  Pretty Baby  (1978), in which she played a  child prostitute  in  New Orleans  at the turn of the 20th century. The role garnered Shields widespread notoriety, and she continued to model into her late teenage years and starred in several dramas in the 1980s, including  The Blue Lagoon  (1980), and  Franco Zeffirelli 's  Endless Love  (1981). In 1983, Shields suspended her career as a model to attend  Princeton University , where she graduated with a  bachelor's degree  in Romance Languages. Nadja Auermann  (born 19 March 1971) is a  German   model  and  actress . Fashion designer  Valentino  once commented on her physical resemblance to  Marlene Dietrich . [2]  A  New York Times  fashion columnist, Guy Trebay, wrote of her "ice maiden visage and pole vaulter's legs". [3]  She once held the record for being the model with the longest legs in the world in the  Guinness Book of Records . [ In 1989, Auermann was discovered in a cafe in Berlin, which led her to sign with Karin Modeling Agency in Paris in the same year. [6]  In 1991, she moved from Karin to  Elite Model Management .
